This Sunday, we were preparing to buy shoes for school. My children and I typically buy shoes at the end of July/beginning of August for two reasons. One, normally the shoes are available at that time and we don’t have to worry about the store being out of their sizes. And two, because typically the price is still reasonable. It appears that stores increase the price by the second of August because they know it’s the start of school and parents must prepare their children to go back to school with new clothes, shoes and supplies.
As the school year comes, there are different things that I prepare. I prepare for the mindset of my children and anticipating things they will enjoy or that may present challenges. I also prepare for opportunities to assist them with growing.
Every day I look at my children and realize they have so much of me; each a different part but me none the less. Continue reading

I had an interesting talk with one of my sons on the way home. He is involved in a sport and band. He discusses his dreams of going to college and setting football records. Like my other three children, he is always busy in different things. Thus, individual child time often occurs as we are driving to and from an event, practice, etc. Continue reading
